There is widespread agreement in the fire service that Class A foam is at least twice as effective as plain water in putting out fire, so Advantage Apparatus installs FoamPro 2002 "push button" Class A foam systems on all Advantage Foam Dragons. The foamy water from a FoamPro sticks to fuels instead of washing away, and the foam solution breaks down water molecules into smaller sized droplets that penetrate burning fuels faster.

Using foam means your firefighters are exposed to fire combat for less than half the time and exposed to the dangers and exertions of overhaul for less than half the time.

Your "customer's" property also is exposed to flames for a shorter time and water damage is significantly reduced because there is 50 less water used.

Perhaps the greatest savings foam offers is in apparatus purchase. If every gallon of water is more than doubled in suppressant capacity when it goes through the foam system on a Foam Dragon, how many tankers would you have to buy to double+ your gpm's at a fire without foam? (All the shuttle people agree that 150 gpm per tanker is what a shuttle delivers.)

FoamPro's modern foam systems are very, very easy to run. Firefighters simply get off the truck, start the pump, push the "Foam" button and fire away. It doesn't matter if you are flowing 50 gpm or 1250 gpm, the FoamPro system injects exactly the right amount of foam solution into the water.

To make foam even more effective, all Advantage Foam Dragons can be equipped with the Vindicator series of aspirating nozzles produced by First Strike Technologies (www.1ststriketech.com). The medium-sized Vindicator "Heavy Attack" nozzle allows a SINGLE firefighter to flow 250 gpm at 50 psi nozzle pressure ("NP") through a 1.75" line. Adding foam solution to that 250 gpm takes advantage of the aspirating capability of the nozzle to make the finest quality aspirated foam available, equal to at least 500 gpm of plain water. Two firefighters using two 1.75" crosslays can flow the equivalent of 1000 gpm easily.

Very few room and contents fires can endure even a 250 gpm flow for more than a fraction of a minute before the flames go dark.

BOTTOM LINE: Foam uses less water, reduces firefighter exertion by at least half, puts out the fire faster, reduces water damage for your customers and saves you the cost of several additional basic tankers. Vindicator nozzles let you make better foam and flow much larger gpm's at lower pressures with fewer firefighters, so "lost cause" fires suddenly turn into impressive saves.
